Trespass on Palomar mountain or the Henshaw valley - you will most definitely be photographed with game cameras (almost every private landowner has them) and you will be turned into fish and game or the sheriff. Trespassing and poaching is a crime. And I consider catching poachers more fun than...
Let me change my wording to “under 400 yards” where 99% of the game is taken...it’s also depends on the bullet, bc etc. The BC May give the advantage past that but it’s academic to me. 140 grain 7mm08 to a 140 grain manbun is about 100 pounds more energy at 400 yards for the the 7mm08
I’ve shot a 7mm-08 for a long time. I see no need for the 6.5 Creedmoor. As a hunting cartridge the 08 has more energy all along the curve than the 6.5. I also hate fads
SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD - thanks Mitch!
I’ve got some 12x binos I never use anymore - I have corrective eyeglasses that make higher power optics more difficult for me. These were $700 new. Selling for $250. Don’t have the front covers for them but Leupold will send you new ones at no cost...
I bought my cabin and land 8 years ago and I can say it was truly life changing - congrats. I got one like that the third year I owned it but the big ones aren’t around every year. The coolest thing is just seeing the same deer year over year, watching them as the grow from fawns. Trust me on...
the early snowstorms tend to chase them down to lower elevations. We’ve had probably 22” of snow in December on Palomar so far which has kept the production down

or how about flushing a covey of quail accidentally when you’re staking a deer, that will stop your heart. Bantail pigeons tend to blow off their roosts too when you walk under them at night...
If you’ve got a headlamp on the emerald glow of a lions eyes are visible a long way off. I saw a lion at night a few years ago, and it was actually comforting to know that as long as you keep looking at those eyes and he keeps looking at you, you always know where he is. And that’s assuming...
I think I’ve shot 5+ deer at least with copper. I have noticed that Barnes doesn’t tend to leave A blood trail with a lung shot. and it does leave a small hole coming and going. I generally use a 7mm-08 or 270 size gun in CA. But the federal Premium trophy copper 165s out of my 30-06 I’ve used...
