Congrats on a great trip.
Guys bring HEAVY gear, consider adding some wire to your jigs to cut down on jig loss and circle hooks are a must. We are fishing nothing lighter than 50lb fluro
Oh and keep that fish catching GF away from my snow geese ;D
Hey Brad,
We are really happy with the foam dekes, they had some unknown advantages that really worked out well for our lease. Their foam so you cant throw them around like plastic.
We drew the attention of a few guides who actually walked into our spread to check out the dekes
It truly is a year round comittment for most of us.
This is my first summer of NOT doing endless amounts of work on decoys probably because I spent last October painting 30 doz full bodies
Pic of dekes prepped and painted
The smaller the spread the better the decoys need to look. Every snow goose decoy made has it's weak side, Sillosocks without wind to move them don't look that great. Full bodies are always my favorite decoy, if space is an issue consider 5/8 shells might be a good choice
Just for those of you not on the other site we posted on
I have fished this derby for 20 years or so, Gregg and I have fished it four of the last 5 years together and we won the tourney last year by a landslide.
We worked our butts off to learn the patterns of these spring stripers and when...
Definitely one of my most memorable days I ever had at Winster, not just because we shot a few geese but because of all the history and experieces some of these guys have had!
