    $1000 Budget take 2

I guess I was describing the Swiss Army knife of rifles. I don't want to be a sniper I want to be a good hunter. I understand that here in so cal my big game opportunities will be more limited than if I lived in another state. The comment about being able to take down a bear 400 yards was a...

    Pig scouting

I live in Corona and have heard a few people talk about there being pigs up around Ortega Hwy. Can anyone confirm this? I would like to start going out and practicing my stalking and tracking skills but don't want to waste my time in areas where there are no game that I'm looking for.

Are you saying the 243 is the only choice in that model or it would be the choice you would make in that model?

    $1000 Budget take 2

I want to thank everyone who gave me all of the great advise from my first post. I have decided to go with the Remington 700 CDL w/wood stock. I think this rifle will suite my needs and fits the majority of my "must have" criteria. I now need to venture into the dangerous topic of caliber...

I guess it might also be worth mentioning that I may end up moving back to Washington where I would not only hunt deer but elk and possibly black bear as well.

    $1000 budget

I lived in Idaho for a few years and as I recall the 7mm seemed to be the States flagship caliber. What are the pros and cons to 7mm? I don't know anything about it.

    $1000 budget

I think the Tikka would be a great gun as well as the American but I think at the end of the day I will be much happier with the 700. Going with the 700 will still leave me with a few hundred left for the scope and if need be I can save for another month or so to get a scope just outside of my...

    $1000 budget

Hello fellow hunters. Let me start by saying I'm not new to hunting but due to financial reasons in the past I had to sell my hunting rifle. I have been shooting coyotes with my AR but I miss my bolt gun. I'm in search of your opinions, I need a new rifle and scope and my total budget is $1000...
