Assuming for quail in the Mojave National Preserve? I've been out there a few times with my son.. it can be done without a dog. I like broad dried out river beds with large shrubs in em.. I've seen quail all over out there. There's also some water guzzlers sprinkled all over, some googling...

I've seen sticks and other things used to prop their mouth open... Never seen an empty IPA.. I'm going to have to start carrying a beer just for that purpose.

I've done the boiling and recently did a coyote skull via the burying it method.. Burying it gave the skull some brown color that was tough to get out (and since it was a coyote it was not a priority to get it perfect).. I'd do the simmer method personally, it's a bit of work here and there but...

Hunt Fish Kauai - they got crossbow and archery pig hunts if I recall correctly. Fantastic reviews, and I did a fishing trip with them. I'd recommend it to anyone and I'll likely go back to hunt pigs at some point.
