How difficult is rifle and shotgun shopping right now?

Seeing how heavy they are, I guess the upstairs idea is out of the equation. I'll look at the Winchester 26 gun, also any experience with safes from Costco? They usually have quality products. Something like this: https://www.costco.com/bighorn-18.46-cu.-ft.-executive-safe.product.100571770.html

How difficult is rifle and shotgun shopping right now?

Thank you all for the feedback. I think I'm going to research some potential choices for 2-3 more weeks and then ideally take up ilovesprig on his offer to meet up at Turner's, and also start browsing the other shops as well. I really appreciate the offer to help! I think I'll also register...

How difficult is rifle and shotgun shopping right now?

For budget, it seems based on research I should be able to get a reasonable quality 12 gauge shotgun that would serve me well in the $500 range? Would $1000 be a better number? I don't have a specific budget per say, I would define my strategy as more focused on getting a good quality product...

How difficult is rifle and shotgun shopping right now?

Looking into my first firearm purchases as a total beginner shooter and first time owner, but I know the last year has been crazy for gun purchases. Not having set foot in a shop, what's the general feel for how difficult inventory is right now? Both in terms of available inventory and actually...

Typical adult newbie trying to break from armchair hunter to actual hunter

Yes, I'm in Carlsbad. I searched for NRA courses and I see shotgun and rifle courses at Escondido Fish and Game, I assume that is what you are referring to? The first and only shotgun course is schedule for 1/10 and they can loan shotguns, but it's full. Next rifle is 3/20 but it says to bring...

Typical adult newbie trying to break from armchair hunter to actual hunter

Sounds worth getting a tour of MCC at least. I'm going to get OnX maps on my phone and do some exploring as well to try and get a feel for things. One thing I hadn't considered is that I can also hunt Camp Pendleton as DoD and I have a truck, so I seem to meet the requirements for hunting on...

Typical adult newbie trying to break from armchair hunter to actual hunter

Hmmm, drama would seem near the top of the list of things I'd want to steer clear of in life, could you elaborate MJB? I've searched through the threads here for discussion of MCC drama but haven't found any info. Feel free to PM me if not for public discussion. Thanks! I've heard mention of...

Transitioning from armchair hunter to actual hunter?

Hi All, Merry Christmas! First post here after lurking for awhile and educating myself, it got deleted the first time around so trying again. Like many newbies, I've gotten my hunting license, read, read and read some more about hunting, watch hunting shows, etc. but need to purchase a firearm...

    New here, hello all!

No problem, glad I didn't do something wrong. I read it again and can't find any adult words though? Okay to go ahead and re-post? I had it cached in my history so I could just paste it back in as a new thread. Off to a great start aren't I, haha!

    New here, hello all!

Hello, I posted a thread as a newbie about my typical new wannabe hunter challenges but it appears to have been deleted, so I'll keep it short and say hello to make sure this one isn't, then follow up with more discussion. Thanks!
