This is a little change of pace from hunting but just thought I would share.
I was fortunate enough to be selected this year to take part in a dirt bike ride that starts on the California side of the international border at Tecate and ends 8 days later in Cabo San Lucas. This trip began to consume my life, from the time I found out I was on the short list of participants back in Febuary. After a couple months of riding every weekend and dumping some money into my bike for the little extras that cost a lot, I was as ready to go as I could be. In all we were 43 riders, 14 chase, and 6 media. When I got to the border my nerves out of control, after gearing up we had a riders meeting, a prayer and we were off.
First day we went 160 miles down the compadre trail to mikes sky ranch.
Day2 was off to the west and made our way down to El Rosario for the night, up till now the riding was pretty basic.
Day 3 had us leaving and heading SW towards some mud hills and then into some 2 track silt beds with underlying rocks, then onto the cactus canyon single track with a little trials type riding into Catavina for the evening.
Day 4 started off with a long rocky single track called the campershell trail, then into suicide ranch for a quick break then off on some more rocky trail and into the chapala dry lake, after lunch we were off to hit the 60 miles of the window rock single track into Bay of LA.
Day 5 had us on the bikes before the sun was up for a long 85 miles of graded road with large rocks on it, then off to the bay side for the no wimps trail which led into an ancient volcano and into San Ignacio for a 240 mile day.
Day 6 we headed SW to visit an old adobe ranch house, then through some salt flats, some nasty dirt roads and onto some wide open sandy 2 track for 50 miles on our way into Bahia San Carlos on the pacific side.
Day 7 started with more very fast sandy 2 track, then into some fun switch back tidal flats roads which dumped us out on top of a large dune overlooking the pacific ocean. We dropped down onto the beach for a while and then headed east to finish the day dropping down the steps and dealling with some nasty whoops before la Paz.
Day 8 Out of La Paz we headed SE then hit some off camber hilly dirt roads on our way into Todos Santos for lunch, 45 miles from Cabo we did some more easy dirt roads through the hills then dropped into a wash for about 5 miles and the ride came to a conclusion at The Office in Cabo San Lucas.
Crazy life experience with a bunch of strangers that became brothers in 8 long days.

Awesome post...thanks for sharing. I am sending this to my father-in-law. He will love it.

Amazing trip and amazing pictures. Well done Captain!

Brad that looked like soooo much fun. That would have to be the best way to see Baja. EPIC
Looks like you hit Laguna Hansens for fuel. Is Ramona still alive?

Darrel, we only pumped out of a Pemex once, all the other fuel stops were remote off of the chase trucks.
Are you thinking of the far away pic of all the bikes riding on the beach? That is us pulling into scorpion bay for just one of our epic catered meals. That day was shrimp and chicken kabobs.

I only got a couple pics of the catering.

Yah, Cameron Steele and his race team put it on. 11 time baja 1000 winner Johnny Campbell, World Champion Surfer Sunny Garcia, and the Colton Udall who just won the overall in the Baja 500 yesterday. It was filmed the whole way down for CBS, there are some quick videos on youtube, separate from the TV show.
Should be on CBS sports in the next couple months.

Great report. I like the pic at Mikes. The average person would never believe that is in Baja. How was the food I would be a little scared to eat that and then get on a bike for a few days.

Dinner and breakfast was good at mikes, I didn't eat breakfast too much cause every morning my nerves were a little too much, but lunch and dineer the whole way down was catered and I never even had to pop and imodium.

Awesome trip. I just shared this with all the riders at my office.

See any deer, snakes, yotes etc. ?
