2021 Application Deadlines

I apply for ten states every species in almost all of those states. I copied a list of all the deadlines to my phone so I can keep better track of them. On top of all my I put in for quiet a few raffles.

After what the wife and I got for Christmas, there is a real chance that 2020 was my last year hunting CA. Looks like bow hunting on some farm lands in Nebraska and Missouri are going to become my norm.

Well its almost that time of year again. If any of you wonder how a lot of us go on these out of state hunts every year it's because we put the time and research in. You have to pay to play. I think Colorado mule deer is on the books for me this year for sure, possible UT cow hunt, probably AZ youth deer with the possibility of a youth cow hunt. Always applying in NM. Then there is always the off chance I get lucky since I apply in 7 states I could get a once in a lifetime on a whim. I love application season. @NBK where you spending your 50 points this year?

Now that is a list, amazing and thanks for all the work that went into curating it. We’re already signed up for WY antelope and cow elk.

Can anyone explain to me how this application and raffle stuff works? I’ve only bought OTC tags, so I don’t have a clue how this stuff works. PM me if anyone is willing, and to not clog up the thread. Or post it on the thread for others wondering the same thing.

Pick what species and state or multiple states and apply by the deadline, their are greater details per state but until you decide how much time, money and effort your willing to put into the draw system that’s about the it. Every state is ran differently and knowing the in’s and out will help you be more successful in applying also having a strategy will help and having a mixed bag of OIL tags and tags that can be turned over every 3-5 years or what I call opportunity tags is a good mix.

As far as raffles, there are so many different ones and that can be a strategy in itself. There are state, private and organizations like wild sheep foundation and California deer association and many others that have banquets and raffles. So again you have to decide how much and when your willing to throw money at them with the likely negative out come for the hope that if you do it enough long enough something will pay off in your favor.

I’ll second this advice. An Epic membership is well worth the money. You get a great magazine with tons of info plus you can call those guys up anytime to discuss units and get advice if you’re on the fence about something. They do focus on “trophy units” so a gohunt membership is helpful as well if you like to put in for a mix of really good stuff and regular OTC or easy to draw units also.

Thank you Drew.
Thats a lot of work (time) that you have put into building this list.
I appreciate it.
