This was my first season duck hunting and I gotta say I had a blast. It was hard work and a big learning experience but it was well worth it. I made it out 7 times 6-Wister 1-sj on the sweat line. My 8 year old son came with me 5 out of 7 times. It was a great season and father son bonding time for us.

The season started off rough as expected with me not knowing what to expect and not knowing what spots to go to and my first day was a Sunday. But I got some tips from a few SCHers that helped a lot. And everyone I went I learned more and more every time.

I’m proud of my kid sticking it out with me all those trips he made it out with me. He tried really hard every trip to shoot a duck and finally on the last trip he got his first gw. It was a great feeling as a dad to see that smile on his face when he seen it drop the to finish it off on the water.

I ended my season with limits on my last 3 trips to Wister and 29 ducks total for the season and just over 4 average per trip. Really happy with the experience in the field and to share it with my son.

Now my son wants to go turkey hunting. So we will see if we can try and figure that one out. I only hunted big game my whole life then 2023 was my first season dove hunting then 2024 started waterfowl so maybe 2025 we can turkey hunt. I am grateful for the opportunities that are available here.

I just want to thank the guys that helped me with pointers and recommendations on gear.
