I am selling my 250-3000 Savage bolt action rifle but the catch is that it must be going to a kid as their first centerfire rifle, therefore the unbelievable deal. Here are the details:
It was built for me by a gunsmith friend. It is build on a 95 Spanish Mauser action with a custom 20 inch barrel and a generic synthetic stock. Bolt is turned down for a scope but bolt is so-so in terms of cosmetics but functions fine. Comes with a sling. The problem is that the rear scope hole is not exactly centered. I had a good scope on it and using shims got it to shoot extremely well. Took scope off and sold it. So to accomodate the screw hole problem I put the forward mount on and attached a Konus red dot. Works very well. To overcome the problem, if you don't want the red dot, you'll need to get a Leupold or similar one or two piece base that allows for windage adjustment or worst case, have the rear hole filled and redrilled, which will cost about 75 bucks. But for now, it's fine as is out to about 150 yards. It weighs 7.5 pounds and has about the same ballistics as a .243. Very little recoil.
The bargain is that I am also throwing in 125 Barnes 80 grain TTSX, some brass [new and 1X], and a set of Lee Pacesetter dies. The bullets at Midway are $143 and the dies are $37. I will sell everything, if you tell me it is for a kid [your word is good enough if you are an SCH member], for $150. You pay transfer fees and it must go thru an FFL. My phone is 808-315-6793.
