Friday afternoon I got out to the IV for a little duck shoot on a friends duck club. He called and said he was going to be late. So, Trigger and I decided to hunt a couple of ditches and alfalfa fields while we waited.....Zero on the 1st alfalfa field and ditch, but on the 2nd ditch I heard a rooster crow.....Sent Trigger into the thick tulies and out comes Mr. Longtail.....The trusty Benelli 20 gauge M-2 didn't disappoint.....Beautiful wild bird with hooked spurs.
Then it was off to the club for limit type shoot of mallards, gadwall, GW, and spoonies.
Next up was Wister......Probably the slowest day I've ever had under these conditions.....Didn't pull the trigger until 11:30 am.....Managed 4 birds with winds up to 50 mph......Unbelievable!
This morning on the way home I saw some doves hitting a old corn field. Stopped, put out the spinner and got 5 before I had to get going.
Liked it out so much, I'm heading back out at dark-thirty tomorrow morning........
