5 days off and an RV where do I go?

I will be taking a few days off with the wife and the pup. We are taking a small RV. I really want to check out an area where I could hunt with an AO next year (of course the wife doesn't need to know that is my plan....) I was thinking D8 the Sequoia National Forrest might be cool but I could go elsewhere. Close to a river or a lake would be very nice.

I just looked at the Sequoia NF website and of course, overnight camping in the forest operated campsites is closed. I am sicked and tired of running into a roadblock to go hunt or spend the night in the woods but that's a rant for another time.

Ideally, I'd like to keep the drive under 5hrs. I am open to suggestions, I would consider AZ too.

Any recommendations? Think relaxing, nice view, hopefully quiet.... If I can go chase quail and dove in the morning while the wife makes breakfast would be a bonus.

I think I would pack up and go too Prescott. I understand they have some nice bars and music venues. But some of the folks that hang out there are of questionable character.

Prescott which is just a suburb of So Cal at this point at this time because of the migration of Cali folks that have left and brought their views and voting rights to AZ and is not a place I would go to socialize and party during a pandemic, Was there awhile back, used to be a place I would consider but not anymore, destroyed by Cali residents. Az is almost over just look at how the vote is going lately....

Quail Valley RV park. We are headed there on the 26. Lots of NFS land all around... deer, quail, bear, river fishing, and the like. Pretty low cost for power/water/sewer hook-ups. Family owned and operated.

Thanks to all that shared some ideas. I left town before I could read the replies.
We ended up going to Mt. Charlston, NV. Campgrounds with RV hookups were available. Really amazing terrain to explore with many trails to hike...lots of deer signs. 20 degrees at night but the RV heater kept us warm and we also had lots of firewood.
I decided to leave the shotgun behind new area and all.
On the way back to Cal I went to check out the town of Shoshone in the Death Valley Burro Sanctuary inside X9c.
We had a great time and I keep liking NV more and more.

Not even close to the truth, no evidence of this. Lots of Californians have left their shithole and relocated to Prescott, that's true. RED all the way. What you're referring to is what is going on in Phoenix, Tuscon and the reservations. I have zero regrets about chosing Prescott. Ed F

That's good to hear. Prior to this last trip I went to check out Prescott and Flagstaff...I liked them both but it seems it might be tricky to get a job in my field.
I have to say that a friend told me Prescott has a high concentration of meth users. I didn't see that but most business were closed and most people were not out and about to get an idea. Is the meth issue a real problem in Prescott?

You can run but you can't hide... that goes for every village in this country. Prescott has a lazy white trash population... they probably use meth. Ed F
