Gun is ready for the action to be bedded. Hopefully I will have time this weekend. I assembled the gun to see what it weighed and of course to see how it looks.

The complete rifle weighs 7 pounds 6 ounces with everything (the bedding compound will likely add an ounce or two). So the rifle should be exactly 7.5 pounds (7pounds 8 ounces) . The rifle without the scope and rings weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces. I did not install the Jewell trigger yet but it was included in both weighing scenarios.

I am pretty excited...

The brake fits the barrel profile very well,
looks seamless. We will be excited to see how it sends the hammers down range.

Rifle is sitting in a gob of Marine-Tex. Always nerve racking until it pops out of the stock. Getting closer to a finished rifle. Hopefully this will be sending copper pills next weekend!

Ranges are more than likely shutdown. I know a guy with a top secret location let me know. The new lab radar shows up Wednesday. I want to hear it go boom. I like watching these things come together.

I don't know, seems like a shooting ranges are essential (at least I really hope so). PS, you will love the lab radar.

Ok - maiden run on the freshly assembled rig. 38 shots into the new tube.

Tested 8 different loads. Velocity ranged from 2888 fps - 3003 fps averages . Smallest group measured 0.216" (@2909 fps) and the second best was 0.236".

What I found amazing was, I worked the load up to 60.6 grains (169 Hammer) without any signs of pressure - NONE! So now I have a new batch to test which will increase up to 1.1 grns. We should see the mid 3,000's fps. Hopefully something comes of it. If not, 2900 fps is it!

I like this testing of reloads using a sled...I need to start doing that to remove my shooting ability out of the equation.
