Any Advise for Sons first Duck Hunt This Weekend - Los Banos

I've never loaded up with 3 1/2" #2s and blasted away at ducks until my barrel is hot enough to fry bacon. Terrible advise IMO. Novice hunters should be taught responsible hunting and ethics. Refuges only allow 25 shells per hunter. Good luck on frying bacon on 25 shells.
3" shells are fine, even 2 3/4" will do the job. Take the kid out and be safe and have a good time....good luck.

If you pay a buddy to come along just to run back to the truck and get more shells, you’d be eating bacon in no time.

Refuge has been averaging about 2 birds.
Number 1 bird is GW Teal

teal are the number 1 bird per season throughout the grasslands.

don’t pass on them waiting just for big birds.

On Sunday, Take a blind and check blind results at the checkstation to help you decide.

very smart to hunt Sat and get a lay of the land. You may find a free roam spot you’d like to try Sunday morning?

Focus on your son and enjoy the adventure

good luck

My advise is make sure you son is warm so it’s a good experience. Shoot at what ever is in range and have a good time.
This is my first reply but you guys are wound way too tight. From everything I read hunter527 is a jokester and gets under your skin. Give me a break, it’s just jargon and he likes to have a little fun. And he has some good stuff at times as well. Don’t sweat the small stuff fella’s.

@staymooney how did your hunt go??

Prob still having to ice his shoulder from the 3 1/2 mag loads. Good lord this thread went sideways
