Arrow through blind mesh

My ground blind is set up and waiting for me for archery opener. I wanted to get it out a few weeks early so the deer would get use to it. I don't have a 360 deg view due to a large tree behind me but I do have a lot of shooting options. I really don't want to fumble around with the mesh while a buck is coming in and I don't want to leave all the windows open. The blind is advertised shoot through mesh and I read a few articles where they tested mechanical and fixed broadheads with no issues. I am still skeptical I will be shooting mechanical reapers. Has any one done it are you confident in it? I have two concerns #1 the arrow will open #2 trajectory change. The articles I read did testing and both were fine but I am still second guessing.

I wouldn't trust it.......but give it a try before the opener if in doubt

I would never trust a mechanical thru mesh.....And barely trust a fixed.....I know friends that are good shooters and have missed doing it.....For what it's worth.....I shoot Grim Reaper and I use a pop-up....One window open.....I've had time to open windows, if buck came in from a different angle than I thought.

I disagree... I shoot through the mesh with no measurable difference. I shoot fixed blade Muzzys. I would not shoot an expandable through mesh or at any animal for that matter. It depends on the species I'm hunting... Turkeys no mesh needed. Deer will spot you moving in the blind especially if you don't have the windows closed behind you. A Coues whitetail will spot you through the open window at 100 yards. I agree and don't like anything touching my arrow... but think about these guys who shoot a whisker biscuit... once the blades cut the mesh (which is insignificant) it's flying basically untouched. I just shot a Coues deer through mesh at a poke... and he's dead. My opinion is on deer, shoot through the mesh. Ed F

On a side note if it rains those blinds are not water proof. Get a tube of silicone add some water and brush the outside of the blind and let dry. A couple coats work best.
When in the field add some brush to it to break up the out line it helps with game and other hunters walking up checking if anybody's home

Steve. I am thinking about trying it a few times through some screen mesh to see what happens. I really don't want to blow a shot by shooting through mesh I also don't want to spook a buck by fumbling around with the screens.

Like I stated, I hold what Ed said as gospel.....He's also a far far advanced bow hunter than me (he also shoots fixed blades).....I guess the true test is to shoot some ourselves.

Could you cut some verticals slits in the mesh every food or so? I think you would still be concealed. I've never hunted in a ground blind so I don't know if it will work or not.

That's a thought but I really only want to worry about hitting the deer and adding having to go through a slit at that moment would make a tough situation tougher. I was mistaken I am shooting Rage Hypodermics I sent them an email asking this same question. I will post their response on here. I am more than likely going down to B&A this week to pick up some muzzy Gx3 fixed blades per Bowhunters recommendation. I don't want to leave anything to chance. Preparing as much as I have I don't want to miss because of something preventable.

I think I am heading over to B&A to get some muzzys tomorrow. just wanted to share what they sent back.

First post on this site - been lurking for a while, but thought I would comment because I have some experience. I've shot at coues deer through mesh 2 times with fixed broadheads. The first was at 20 yards - no problem - dead deer. The second was at 60 yards - not very smart of me and the arrow hit the dirt a few yards short. The same buck came back to the same spot a couple hours later and I lowered the mesh and shot him - dead deer. I know the mesh will affect accuracy at some point, but I don't know how far. The only real way to know would be to test it with your BH at different distances. Might want to get an extra piece of mesh to hunt behind after the test.
