Public Scoping Workshop to Seek Input for Management of Two Wilderness Areas in Riverside County
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public input for its wilderness management plan for the Mecca Hills and Orocopia Mountains wilderness areas east of the southern Coachella Valley in Riverside County. To facilitate that input, a public scoping workshop is scheduled on Aug. 7, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at BLM’s Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office, 1201 Bird Center Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262.
The proposed management plan will provide guidance for BLM regarding decisions affecting these two wilderness areas. The plan will assist BLM in managing these wilderness areas for public uses including recreation, scenery, science, education, conservation, and history – while preserving the wilderness character.
Comments also may be sent to Jennifer Taylor, Outdoor Recreation Planner-Wilderness, at the BLM’s Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office address. The comment period ends Aug. 18, 2012.
