Buying guns online / Turkey guns

What places have you guys purchased guns online from? Im a south paw and most local places I've been to don't carry left handed shotguns and if I'm gonna spend the money I might as well get something I want. I've come across left handed models of the mossberg 835 & 500s and some Remington 870s for under $500. I just haven't purchased a gun online so was curious if any of you guys had any recommendations. I came across buds gun shop earlier today and they seemed to have some good prices.

Also what barrel length do you guys like for Turkey shotguns and why? Some Turkey guns I've seen have 21" barrels and others are 24"-26".

have you gone into SCH's home shop Fine Firearms

barrels over 21 do nothing ballistic wise. longer barrels do point better 24-26 is a good mid ground you can then use the gun for everything

If you don't already have an all-around shotgun, don't get a "turkey gun." Get a standard hunting length 26" or 28" gun and it'll serve you well for turkeys in addition to other upland and waterfowl applications. Go into Fine Firearms, they've got a lot of Berettas on the rack as well as others.

But to answer your question about online purchasing... I haven't done it (I always buy mine local) but buddies do all the time. Fairly straightforward.. you plug in your CC then usually pick from a drop down menu of FFLs in your area that it'll ship to.

Yea I was just curious because I saw some "Turkey guns" but I want something that I can use for other species as well. Didn't want to limit myself. & Yea I rather purchase something in person rather then online.

Not that you can't hunt other species with a 20" turkey gun.. but like @Aeon said a 26" just swings and points more naturally I think. Heck, once I hunted quail with a buddy's 870 Field Special in 21" (with the nice English stock) and it swung quick on quail. So who knows, your preference.

I loved my 21" "Upland Special Field" in 20 & 12, 870's.....I also owned a 21" Rem 1100.....All were/are great upland guns that could shoot turkeys (didn't come in camo).

That said, buy yourself a camo semi auto with a 26" barrel that accepts choke tubes.....Lots of choices out there......Stoeger, Escort, and others won't break the bank.

26" M-2 20 gauge.....Any gun will kill a turkey, if they're close enough.

What do you want to hunt with it.
Quail, rabbit, dove, pheasant, turkey?,
Go to k2000 and see if you can shoot them.
For quail and dove I like a Shotgun
That light, and swings fast.
Same for rabbits and ducks.
Turkey is point and shoot.

Buy once cry once......save some money and get a used Benelli semi-auto SBE 1, 2 or 3 and your set for life.

I have 26" & 28"......26" points a little quicker.

Remember fit & point of aim is different from gun model & Manufacturer. I like my target above my line of sight for me that's Benelli and Ithica mod 37.....I learned all my wing shooting with that mod 37 so the upgrade to the SBE was easy.

I never understood your poa to cover your target......what if the bird changes direction? For trap I perfer to cover the target because I can gauge the rise & drop of the clay and I'm on it. Sporting clays I perfer my Benelli or Ithica for the diversity of shots and needing to track the target

So I went down to Fine Firearms and ended up putting some money down on a mossberg 500 combo that came with an 18.5 and a 28" barrel all in camo. It was used but looked to be in great condition. $399 before tax and dros. I have been leaning towards the 500 due to the ambidextrous saftey and being a lefty I dont mind the shells coming out the right side so I pulled the trigger! I did like the turkey sights that came on a mossberg 24" they had but I did like that mine came with 2 barrels and I can look into adding those sights. Glad I went down there!!

Good deal! You'll be happy with the 500. A real workhorse and very easy to fix if anything breaks. Parts and accessories readily available too.
