CA AB1912 Firearm Carry- Archery season

I remember I went out for deer archery opener one year..walking up before grey light and took my buddy with me and let him know that I had heard from a nearby land owner that F&G game had trapped a big tom at her neighbors place and to keep an eye out for a mom and some big juveniles in the area. Well we walk up into a part of the area that opens up into a small valley and I scanned to my left and there was a pair of glowing eyes just staring at us 60yds away. It did the slow cat blink and we just froze since we only had our bows and could barely see a faint outline of it. All we could do was just stand there then after about a minute or so the cat turned its head and walked in the direction we were headed. We waited for grey light and just kept going. Always hated not being able to carry a side arm in CA. I take my pistol with me regardless if I'm bow hunting or rifle hunting out here in ID.

Exactly why I want to carry one. I've had a similar encounter and it has creeped me out ever since!
