You guys that are running trail cameras... you leave em out all year? If not, when do you start putting them up?

I ask because I’m hunting locally this year for the first time in a long time and was going to put three out. Figured I’d start now to see if there’s any game where I hope there is and also to force me to get some more miles on the boots. I guess I’m asking because I don’t know if it’s just a waste of time being this early in the year.

I like cams out year round...Granted, they're all on private, but it gives me a good idea about what bucks made it thru the season...Plus, they're just cool to dick with.

I usually put mine out in may and pull them before the archery season starts. (the ones I have on public land) The area I put the cams up is like a false sense of hope I get good bucks on cam while in velvet but once the go hard horn there gone

Unfortunately, if you place them on a high foot traffic area, most likely they will disappear. Now if you go far in and out of the bitten path you can have more chances of not loosing them. Try to place them on something that can offer also some cover.
I have had cameras out there and ( knocking on wood) never got stolen, funny thing is, I have many videos of two legged mammals walking in line at around midnight...

I’ve got one out right now and was off path for sure. Didn’t see a single boot track so I’m hoping for the best when I go check it. I put it up last weekend and will check it in a few weeks.

I’m probably going to try and get a couple more out in really different areas as the season gets closer to at least find some areas that hold deer. I’ll pull em before the season begins.
