D14/15 Doe Tags?

As mentioned in my first thread, I am new to hunting on SoCal (not hunting entirely). A question that I can't seem to find on the CA.gov site is whether or not you can obtain Doe tags in the SoCal area (D14/D15).

What's the verdict?

I think the answer is no. The zone map would show an alternative hunt within those zones

There is an antlerless hunt in D16 zone which is G13, which is a premium hunt

Local deer tags can be very confusing and can change form year to year...If G-13 is a premium tag (drawing to receive).....It means, you will lose a point or points, if you get drawn. You get a point, if you don't....I actually thought it was a restricted tag.....Meaning you don't lose your points....Damn, I'm confused just typing about it......lol


Per DFW website......

For Zone D-16 and associated hunts within the zone, the tag categories are as follows:
1) Premium Deer Hunts – G13, and M6 2) Restricted Deer Hunts – A22 and D16 (were both Premium tags in 2015) 3) Unrestricted Deer Hunts – Archery Only (AO)

I'm the furthest thing from an expert but that's what my hours of trying to understand have led me to believe! Yes every year is based on the previous year.. restricted, unrestricted, or premium

I plan on getting a Preference point with first choice, A-22 for second and D16 for 3rd! Hopefully get A-22 and D16

OK.....I've got a question......If you put in for let's say X9-A.....And don't get drawn, you get a point.....Does this point stay with X9-A or is it just a point for deer hunts in general?

Another example is, I put in for G-13 and don't get drawn, I get a point.....The next year, I put in for X9-A.....Does that mean I'm putting in for X9-A with 1 point?

I think all points are the same, regardless of what premium unit you put in for. Just like you can lose your x9a points on a g23 tag!

Steve,

You get a point toward the next year regardless of which hunt you apply for, as long as you are not successful. that point is not allocated to anything but your next years choice.

Hey boss, I have a question for you. I have 5 points now. I should be drawing the x9a tag this year. My question is, bear?? Can I hunt bear while on that x9a deer hunt? I haven't hunted bear since I was 15 years old. So I'm kind of confused on this. Any advice will help. Thank you for your time
 
Mammal hunting regs for the upcoming season get posted in the spring, online before printed version comes out a few weeks later. It's a little weird, but there can be changes to the final print version that comes in the mail, even though the online version is not labeled "draft". For example, if memory serves, last year D16 was listed as unrestricted online and then restricted in the printed version.
