D16 Opener

Good luck, Lee.....This has been a weird year.....Either there's a lot less deer or the rut really never materialized.....Acorns thick in some areas, none in others.....MCC I think has only shot 6 bucks (3 pts or better).....There's been years when that many were shot on the opener.....On my best private there's bucks, but with the exception of Stefanie's, nothing of quality.....Lots of spikes (at least 5).....There's also weird antlered bucks with big bodies.....Time for them to go, as I watched one breeding a doe the other night.

Despite this guys size. He's barely legal. I think you can hang a ring on his antler (his eyeguards are longer than his points)).....He chased all the other bucks away.

Steve I think that some of those units on MCC should put a limit on pressure or a cap on deer take. There is a hand full of them that get hit so hard that I wouldn't be surprised if they are not pushing the bucks onto the harder to reach public land around them. Great example would unit 12, 13, 52 these units are getting more pressure than the public around them. Just my 2 cents. Great club Janice and Frank are awesome nothing but respect for them both.
That buck has a huge body.

I really appreciate you posting this! I went back and forth so many times on joining MCC this year for deer. Frank gave me the tour and the land sold itself, but I just wanted to give the surrounding public land one more shot and save the 3k for a Montana hunt next year. I definitely plan on joining MCC in the future but decided that this year wasn't the best for me (it also worked out since I drew a G13 tag, I wouldn't have been able to use it there).

The Area was quite, but no luck.
Well did all right
But time has come to hang my Spurs. For now. And work on getting healthy.
It was fun getting out. And hanging with an other SCH member. Best of luck to everyone for the season.

Well last weekend. I know we're I need to go but not 100%. Dam gout has plauge me this year. So I am going out and hope for the best. Heading out this afternoon. And tomorrow. The deer in my spots are hunkering down and are not moving during the day. I have seen lots of tracks so they have gone nocturnal. It has been driving me nuts sitting on the couch. LOL.
