Dove breast stone?

Shot a dove the other day and was breasting it. When I pulled the skin back there was a stone the size of your pinky nail in the breast. Greens and brown looked and felt like layers of a peanut shell like a ball cut in half. The breast was recessed and dis colored underneath. Think it was a piece of shot seasons ago that calcified outwards? Good to eat?

My buddy got something similar last week, in that case it was shot because we could see where the breast had healed up leaving a perfect hole that had healed around the edges.

I say eat it then tell us what happens so we can spread the word if it's good or bad or not

SDbirds, this sounds like another one to add to your commandments: "if you don't know what it is, eat it and make a report." Hahaha
... How many does that make?
