Made a last minute decision to head to sister late last night out to wister. I wasn’t sure if it was too windy to hunt, it seemed like it this morning during check in.

My son pulled reservation #52 there wasn’t much people with reservations I picked in the top 7 if I’m not mistaken maybe top 5. The spot I wanted got picked so I went for a spot I never been to before not knowing the area. When I first got there the wind was blowing really hard and dusty and there was some waves in the pond from the wind. Was thinking it was a bad idea especially with my 8year old with me.

Got set up about 30 min before shoot time, my son took a nap. About 10 min to shoot time they started coming into the decoys hand just floating above my decoys in the wind they were flying all over the place. As soon as shoot time hit it was on!! I tried to get my son to shoot but he needs to upsize from his .410.

Great day for my son and I.

What a great day, Bud....High winds are normally a real plus...........................
I been geeking out on duck hunting for the last few months and read that wind was good for duck hunting. That's what made me take the last minute trip out there. When I got there I was thinking "is this too much wind?" But it wasn't and it mellowed a little in the morning so it wasn't to bad. Good thing I brought my panel blind for a little shelter from the wind.
