Early morning rabbit hunt / quail scout

Went out this morning with my buddy to hunt up some cottons and scout a few areas we've hunted the last few years for quail and dove. We got 3 bunnies and all of them were teaming with fleas. At one of our quail spots, we saw a covey of about 50 quail all stacked up. We walked the hills and no other calls, no sightings, only the 3 cottons and probably 10 jacks. Pretty big area so the others could've just stayed quiet but it was crazy foggy so i thought for sure we'd hear them. Tons of fresh yote crap still steaming in a couple spots so we were either both following separate coyotes or there are a bunch of them up there and they're wiping out all the bunnies and quail. Pretty good setup for coyote so we'll have to see what we can do. Gotta say that in the covey we DID see, there were males that were MASSIVE and they weren't afraid of us at all. Almost ran the covey over! Biggest valley's I've ever seen. Lots of dove flying over all morning. Looking forward to both openers! First rabbits of the season for me. About damn time!

Thanks for the comprehensive report 8ST. Sounds like a fun day none-the-less. Your next post should be about some dead dogs! ;)

Thanks NBK! I'm very detail oriented... hopefully not too long winded!

Lungpopper, I used some Win Super X 2 3/4" shells... not sure what shot size, but headshots on my 2. Visibility was litterally at 100 ft... very quiet and a little creepy

I think it's the network my computer is on, but I can't post pictures on this site... just says "
"...

Oh...got it now!
