Early Teal

Got out to shoot some brown ducks on Saturday morning. It was quick. All 3 of us done by 830 am.

Shot all 3 species of teal in two days.

Fun shoot. Nice to hunt ducks in September without leaving the kids for a prolonged trip to Canada.

Oh, bonus dove took some number 2s as well.

This is it until I hunt Pronghorn in a few weeks.

Colorado has an early teal? That's what I love about home. Teal in the morning, dove in the afternoon! Mostly blues and a few buzz bombs. Never saw a cinny til I lived here.

Colorado does. East of I 25. We hunt a stones throw from your home state.

I thought the cinnamons were on the western slope and west of there. I have seen one near my office on the front range. Then on Saturday I could have sworn I saw some flying. Well, on Sunday my brother shot one.

We will never shoot a full plumage trifecta here in Colorado unless we have an extremely mild January and they are on their north migration. I just don't see many teal in January.

We had a euro float in extremely slow trying to hump the teal spinner. We were literally laughing at how slow and dopey he was. Almost completely hypnotized by the spinning wing.

My gun was already outside the blind since I had been done for awhile. He got a pass.
