I got a home defense shot gun at a banquet a while back. It’s an 18in barrel cylinder choke. I asked EAA about if they made replacement barrels. They said no, but wondering if a gunsmith can thread it to receive an interchangeable choke. I think it’d be fun for a kids turkey gun.

Thanks for any advice.

my honest opinion buy low entry hunting shotgun, however that said ask the manufacturer for the assembly drawing.
the barrel should be removable. can not believe there is no replacement barrels.
I am not a gun smith but I am an engineer, the deal is the thickness & hardness of the barrel is stress for safety.
there must be enough thickness at the end of the barrel to machine a thread. that accepts a thread tube (choke)
My honest opinion go buy a low end pump shotgun, Mossberg 500, or Remington 870 or equivalent.
after the cost you could just by an other shotgun, and it would be safe. Like Steve(ILOVESPRIG) said modified choke for
multipurpose hunting and steel shot, I use a mossy 500, mod. choke, pump. cost me $400 on sale.
I beat the crap out of it and it keeps working.
or buy a nice new higher end shotgun for the future, and make sure it feels good while holding it.
I was shooting a borrowed shotgun a long while back shooting at clays, I could hit poop with it because
it was to big and heavy for me, I have medium build body frame.
with my old winchester model 50 I rarely miss. problem is after a certain year it's not steel shot compatible.
and has full choke which both will blow up the barrel. so it's becoming antique.
most barrels are very easy to remove and replace. my mossy has one screw , to remove then twist the barrel,
has a butter fly and a slot in the carriage , it easily is removalble.

FYI my old Winchester model 50 had one screw, remove then then twist counter clockwise , was screwed in (threaded)
it was easy to take apart. I would apply anti seize to the threads. what you need to know is the design of your barrel & carriage.
if it was not made not to diss-assemble, eg a press fit, but doubt it, but if is, it takes special tools to take it apart as not to damage it.

just take it to a gunsmith for around 150 bucks or less they should be able to cut threads in it and you can pick up chokes cheap someplace

good to go!

im pretty sure willy can get the barrel off :)

I’ve got plenty of other shotguns just wanted to see if I can make this thing work to. I tried to find the instructions on how to take the barrel off I must’ve placed it in the bottom of my boot that was full of piss and the instructions are on the bottom. One step at a time I guess

Throw it in the trash Andy!

I recommend the Dickinson brand. They are made in the old Benelli factory in turkey with high quality. I own 3 of them and they are fantastic and reasonably priced. Sub $300 for a combo 18/28” barrel or go for the turkey blaster listed below with fiber optic sights and camo with a 24” barrel Only ran me $250EFC37ABC-20F2-44B5-810F-9F3DFA77B89B.jpeg

well now that you got every one one's input, I was reviewing videos of tapping a shotgun barrel.
he uses a reamer to obtain the minor diameter of the thread, but he never showed inspecting size.
in the thread specifications there is a tolerance for the minor diameter, pitch diameter, and the major diameter.
the taps are generally three different types starting tap which is tapered (lead in), , and a bottoming (finishing) tap.
and all types of geometry, spiral taps are more expensive but are stronger , for tough parent material.
and generally different size pitch diameters. start at +0, +.0005 and so on.
minor diameter must be in size before tapping. I would prefer a boring bar, with slow feed, .0005 in. with multiple passes.
but hay the reamer works as long as it's minimal stock removal. .015 stock or less on diameter.
if there is more stock than that it will have to be bored.
hand tap is the way to go.
enjoy
