Bro’ and I took the 17’ Boston Whaler “Allison Christine” to the 14 Mile Carniceria because the fish taco meat supply in the freezer was dangerously low. A fog bank offshore from Dana Point was foreboding so we stuck close to the harbor until it looked safe. Wanted to catch some live bait first, so were dropping Sabikis and I got slammed way too hard for it to be a baitfish and pulled in this:

24 inches of grilling heaven. What a surprise that was. Fog seemed to fizzle so we headed out and fished 600 to 800 feet with slow pitch jigs and one bait rod with electric reel. Steady pick on quality Mexican rock fish, bank perch, green blotch RF, starries and chili peppers. Biggest were 5 lb Mexicans and Banks. Weather was gorgeous back at the harbor in the afternoon.
