Bass fishing is slowing down some, but the crappie fishing with the exception of off the fishing dock has been non existent.......

Yesterday, we started out with some pretty fair bass catching...Then a couple guys in a really nice bass boat said, they had caught a couple of crappie by mistake...So, I traded our bass knowledge with them (their 1st time to Henshaw), for where they caught the crappie........;)

They had caught them on crank baits, but after throwing them for about a 100 yds...I decided to throw a crappie jig on and drift it...In no time, I had our 1st crappie...One more drift and we had to go, but we had a good mess for fish tacos and tonight's dinner.......:yum

ps...In the excited of catching the 1st big crappie, I kicked a $150.00 rod and reel over board...I needed some near stuff anyway.........:joy:

A few years back we were fishing for crappie on Lake Isabella, my son in law was using my Mitchell 300 that I have had sine I was about 14. He dropped it overboard but knowing the history of the reel, he dove overboard and retrieved it. :) :). Those are some nice Crappie. My favorite fresh water fish.
