So I decided to ad a new caliber to my lineup after visiting my brother in law who is a big game vet who says his favorite caliber is his .243 win, and happening to find what I felt was a good deal on a rifle. It is a Howa Ranch Rifle by Legacy. What does anybody know these rifles? What kind of rep do they have?

As far as rep I don't think it's very good mixed at best. But from my own personal experience with legecy shot guns and rifles I've got more then a few .... They are very good for the money. The cost does seam to be coming up from a few years ago but still I shoot the heck out of them. They see dirt and rain and mud and all work great. All of my legecy escort shot guns are gas and they all have several 1000 rounds each down the pipe with no jams. The bolt guns get used less but see more dirt mud and rain. One of mi e is a ranch model in 308. It's very good shooter to about 500 yards. As for the 243 that's also my personal favorite.

I pick up my Left Hand Stainless American 243 Friday just in time for a 3 day hunt down in Yuma. I am excited to play with the caliber and start loading it.

The Howa 1500 rifles are pretty good in my experience. The weatherby vanguard is made by Howa. They both seem to have good reviews for the price.

My son shoots a Howa .243. Its accurate and gets the job done. He killed a 300 pound cow elk at FHL with it last month, so can't complain.

Congrat's to you and your son .that TA 10 cow elk will taste fine....

You might want to look at a Ruger American. Very good quality at a really decent price. My 308 puts three shots in one hole at 200 yards.
