Howdy

My wife just got her long gun permit and her first hunting licence

My spot for dove has been over run, more guys than birds dang it. My spot was in the CNF

I would love to take her to a spot where she can have a good shoot. I worked that map posted on the DFG's website, but I drive around more than shoot.

Not asking for your secret spot, just looking for a different road to travel.

I live in HB and I can not scout like I want to do....Not even sure where to go down there...other than the maps..

Any help would be appreciated.
No biggie just thought I would ask, cuz you never know until you ask

I dont know what area you are hunting now but the Valley is huge. You can look near Brawley, Calexico, and Westmorland. A lot of people tend to stay close to El Centro especially the once a year dove hunters. Dont be afraid to get near the border. Also normally there are public spots to hunt along canals so if you can find a canal bordering fields drive it and see if you can find any cut fields. Also a no brainer is look for grain silos or grain piles and try and get as close as you can on public land. In the valley you have think outside the box because so much stuff is posted. There are a ton of places to hunt down there you have to just get creative and put some miles in scouting. Also be sure to drop pins whenever you find a decent spot that way you could easily find it three years from now.

Your better off waiting until the second season when its cooler and the birds have not been hunted so hard for two weeks.

I really appreciate the advice, I can't wait to get her into a good dove shoot, its gonna be a few weeks before we go...so all the help is greatly appreciated
