Widgon in flight.... Best photo I have ever taken

Here is a hen mallard in flight.

Yes......I just finished GW's, Cinny's, BW, and Gaddy's......I'm hoping this will help new waterfowlers on their duck ID.

Plus, I get to see a bunch of cool pictures of birds..... ;D

Another note about IDing ducks......Most hens are very drab in color.....Light to dark browns.....Some have the yellowish bills with blacks spots (gadwall & mallards).....Well, except when you shoot a he/she.....I got this guy (?) at San J......Yellow/orange bill like a hen, but colors closer to a drake.....Gamey said he'd consider it a drake.

Couple more you may come across......European Widgeon (San Luis Rey River) & Storm Widgeon......Storm widgeon are not a different species from American Widgeon, but have a almost pure whitish head with green stripe.

Shoveler - Don't get confused at first light seeing the orange feet and green head. Look at the bill color. Plus they're smaller than most greenies.
