Laguna RX Burn

It’s that time of year again, burn season. Just a heads up, USFS is planning on conducting a 78 acre prescribed fire behind the Red Tailed Roost next week. I walked it today and saw quite a few stands. The unit runs along the private fence line to the south and along Escondido ravine road.

Time to get those stands out of there before they dissapear....

I have come across some stands that have been there for so long that the latter don't touch the ground anymore. You can't tell if someone is even using them. I came to think that they might have belong to someone that moved out of the state, got too old for this or passed away.

Next could be the area surrounding Lake Morena and Corral Canyon.

A second burn of similar size is scheduled as well, possibly same week. Everything inside of Chico Ravine trail/ Los Gatos Trail/ and the old county road. It’s north of the Agua Dulce day use parking area.

So many areas need a good burn. One of my best rabbit spots now has brush up to my shoulders. Couldn't see a rabbit there now even if it grabbed my ass.
