Laser engraving on 1911

my wife has loved my 1911 I carried as a side arm for years. It's the gun she learned on and after many 1000's of rounds still shoots perfect. After hating the ruger p345 we got her and trading that a few years back she has been with out a side arm.
So I'm giving her my 1911. I want to have the slide engraved. Does any one know any one that does laser etching? I'd rather use some one from here or some one that knows some one rather then send it off to a stranger. I just want maybe roses and her name or something on the slide.

They sound great but are weeks off. We are starting a tac class together in a few weeks so I need the slide done and back for the series of classes. Any one else know of a local laser engraver.

SoCal is aerospace country. There's a ton of machining and engraving vendors all over the place, so you should be able to find a local shop that could do a quick turnaround for you. I've had QCI in Torrance do work before but it was simple stuff like part numbers, but they should be able to do a custom job for you. Only thing that might be an issue is the shops that cater to aerospace applications will come with aerospace price tags. Maybe give some laser engraving shops a call and see how much they'd charge. If it's too much, call up a shop that does trophies. Many of them have an engraver in house. Have anyone do a test run on a scrap piece of metal first to make sure they have the power/ centering correct. If they don't know what power to use, have them start low and just do multiple passes till it looks good. No go backs with a laser.

I have been trying for a few days and spent hours on the phone. Ill the local places in LA area dont like guns. I found one place but they want $250 for set up and the laser engaving OUCH.

wanted to share what i found. Its less then 5 miles from my house and they have a great reputation and work with guns all the time. If any one is looking for engraving for guns, ar's or what ever, they will do a good job. ill post up a picture of my wife's 1911 when finished.
