Here's the maps of the wildlife areas involved in the lead ban THIS year. Also, all ecological preserves are included in these bans (I did not include those maps)......Region 1 to Region 6, plus Sac area......We're in Region 5 & 6.

Heritage Fields in the Imperial Valley do NOT appear to be part of this years bans.

Steve the subject line says 2016. Is this a 2015/2016 season?

Mike,

I think what you asking does it start this year?......And the answer is yes......July 1st, 2015 for all wildlife areas & ecological preserves.

Jason,

Yes....... All game & non-game animals plus birds, except dove, quail & snipe.

Not that I agree at all with this lead ban but to me it seems that the implementation process is meant to confuse and punish us. Why not just set one date for all areas and species?

maybe I am missing something but I didn't understand the boundaries? i also could not find a key?
were all the areas shown lead free for eco. reserves and wild life management areas? or just the purples areas?

Quite simply, if it is a state wildlife area or ecological preserve (San Felipe, Imperial, Santa Rosa Plateau, etc.).......You can NOT use lead ammo starting July 1st.

This rule has already been in effect on national wildlife refuges (Sacramento, Delevan, Kern, etc.).

Mike,

The supposed answer to your question is that there are trying to let ammo companies prepare for this by making new non-toxic ammo......The funny part is is that doves & quail are exempt, but we've had steel 7's for quite some time......It's all BS, anyway you cut it!
