Been on some late afternoon scouting and coming back after dark. My headlight normally catches their eyes. I realized, compared from last years scouting that I have not come across any predators such as a bobcat, or fox. Last year I would come up to one at least once a week. I have more than doubled tripled my efforts and have not seen any this year. Still see the droppings though.

I have noticed more birds of prey but I thought that was due to my recent interest in doves.

Wondering if you have similar findings?

No lack of predators in my neck of the woods.....For the most part with high temps, just very nocturnal.

I have pics of 2 moutain lions in early Oct. While spending 20 days in a tent in D16 during the season, had a bobcat come sit 10yds in front of my ground blind. Spotted foxes twice, and spookiest of all was an encounter with a moutain lion in the dark.

It screamed at me 50yds from my tent. Hit it with a flashlight and it screamed 2 more times. Hair on back of my neck was standing straight up! All I had was my bow with no arrow nocked. Threw some rocks and beelined to the tent.

1st night I cooked dinner in the tent with the fly zipped! !!

Found one old deer kill...bones only. Probably 2-4 months old and a 2nd still had some meat left...days/weeks old?

They are still out there!

Talked to a ranger and he'd just spotted a lion about 5mins before I met him.

I've only seen one lion in person. 75yds away and I was on my hands and knees in heavy brush. Out near Hauser Wilderness area.

Here's a pair in my honey hole.2 cats.jpg

IMG_1100.PNG IMG_1099.PNG Also saw a few lions this year. First time running into one in the field and it happened 2 times in different spots. Also saw my share of bobcats. Got this picture of a big cat on my trail cam a little before the season. Every deer in the area disappeared for a week and I was getting tons of pictures.

Saw two mountain lions in the same week in two different areas. Watched both for well over an hour. This was during the closing week for D16. They are more prevalent then people think.
