Lightweight Tree Stands

Wanted to see if you guys have any suggestions on some light weight tree stands or types of stands. I am going to be hiking them in so looking for something compact and light more than anything that i could run multiples with.
 
There is numerous mind boggling hang up or latter stands.
My issue I had the past is I had to
Order sight un seen.
What I have learned there is a price to pay in comfortably and size.
Get the best stand you can afford.
It must be comfortable for those long sits. Basically all I can say look closely at the user reviews. From where it was purchased. Lot of guys bow hunt here. So they can chime in and have better advice.
 
I have been looking into a tree saddle stands still researching to see if it will work for me.

I purchase a small light weight stand. It was easy to carry and set up. But very uncomfortable.
And small. Limited stand up space.
 
Just get a 3D Leafy Suit... and a low-profile seating option, and shoot 'em from the ground. Heck, you figure if my beginner @$$ managed to pull it off, anybody else should be able to do it.

But on the subject of TreeStands... where I go the Oaks are fairly old and large in diameter. And not all that high up into them you've got very large off-shooting horizontal branches to contend with. How does one deal with that situation with a setup that can be hiked in? I mean... from all the videos on the subject I've consumed. On those examples, the trees always look like they are no more than maybe 1 foot in diameter. In my situation they are like... maybe 3.5 feet in diameter? Or Greater. Kinda looked like those "climber" stands wouldn't work in my scenario due to the girth of the trees involved, and again, how maybe 10ft up they have these massive horizontal branches reaching out that you'd have to contend with.

I kinda figured in this kind of scenario, that maybe you'd have to just strap-on some ladder/climbing sticks... then maybe attach a stand directly to the tree with lag bolts?

How do you handle it when the trees are NOT these nice thin straight up and down thin trees, like in the videos?
 
That's were latter stands come in much easier and more comfortable.
I have set up on oaks it's not easy,
But it's doable. Just takes practice.
I done with my little hangup stand.
Why you use a deer stand is keep the deer from smelling you.
Easier to hide from them.

These may be the ticket for me trying to fit two stands and climbing sticks and keep it under 20lbs if possible, might be able to get away with one hang up and one saddle stand. If I can keep the stands and sticks under 20lbs that will put my total pack weight at 50lbs and dropping 8-10lbs at each way point with 2 stands and 3 traps.

Hmmph... Ok... this Saddle Stand business sounds a lot more doable due to the lower hike-in weight! My only concern there would be if they can still do the large diameter of trees I'm confronted with, and how fidgety It'd make me feel?

Unfortunately, my job has HIGH sit times, so I think that makes me already pre-disposed to being more fidgety on a sit than a lot of other folks. Like I noticed that with the Tripod stool, one of the things that helps with sit times is that I can transfer weight forward onto my elbows resting on my knees. Takes a lot of the strain off my tailbone that is constantly in a state of inflammation due to prior trauma (nasty trip over-the-handlebars and body-slam on a dirt bike one particular time).

I can't have any seams or anything that sticks-up too much in any of my clothing or on any seating surface otherwise it'll bug me and causing blemishes and irritations. It's annoying too because I don't really have the ability to try-on hunting gear before buying it since I'm in a Metro area. So sometimes they workout OK and don't bug on the seams... other times I'm left wondering "What the hell were they thinking putting a seam across here??"

I use two 3/4 in pieces of plywood screwed together. Cut a v in each end. Usually make it 24 to 30 inches long. Always carry a sling rope or tubular nylon (1inch) to lash it into the v and some to tie off me to the tree in my rappel seat.

What's nice about the hang up stand. Is standing up to stretch.
Get sore sitting for hours.

Might be good for younger guy.
It will take some practice.
I think I like my feet on a stand.
I not sure hanging for a couple of hours that it will not cause complications. I real Leary of hanging to long.
 
Was watching videos on this and apparently some guys strap a ring of these plastic steps around the tree once they are up there for their feet to be able to stand upon while at the top. I guess to make it a tiny bit easier to maneuver around the perimeter of the trunk. And noticed the genleman wore kneepads as well, so he could take rests by putting his knees up against the trunk and then laying back into the upper back support wrap he added once he got up to the top.

Yup, yup. I'm creepin' up on the big 5-0 here real soon, and I was very extreme in my youth, so I'm payin' for it now. LIke a need a freakin' IV drip of NSAIDS all day. They are a pain though. The good ones I've found, Ketoprofen, the Pharmacies a lot of times run out of then have to order. Switch over to Celebrex... but recently figured out that IT was the major contributor to horrible Acid Reflux I was having. So for now trying out doing a mix of Aleve and Ibuprofen for the time being. My Dr freakin' retired this year so now gotta re-establish that relationship with whoever the bleep is the new one. And I gotta find me a doc that isn't anti when it comes to writin' scripts either. I am a grown-ass man. I know when I need help, and I know when I don't. I won't bother you unless it's a problematic situation, savvy?

I'm gonna have to finally breakdown and start going back to the Gym again. I kinda got turned off to it when my eyesight started going to hell because it's a pain in the ass doing it with glasses on when it comes to like the elliptical. Can't see the controls (or all the hotties) without my glasses on... but with glasses on doing elliptical, they wanna fog-up bad. So gotta fuss with takin' 'em off and setting 'em on the control panel while running. But oh well... looks like I'm gonna have to just shut up and do it because this old lower back injury is sore like all the time now. And I know it's because I need to get blood-flow back into it. That's part of what I like about hunting, the hike-ins get blood-flow into my butt and lower-back, which are constantly under pressure all day from High Sit-Times. Mama got me a Sit-Stand desktop extension thing. But I've got to do some moving around in my office before I can utilize it yet.

I have gout, big time painful. I try to keep in control mostly by diet.
Once in while nsaids. Lol.
50% of my flexibility is gone.lol
But I hike fairly well.
Hit 50 was a big deal, but 60 was worst. Really feeling big time.
20 years went by fast. Lol.
 
What did me in was previous accidents, and martial arts.
Before MMA was big deal.
Injuries take it's toll.
When your young don't think about
The future. I use to ride as well.
Had my share of incidents as well.
Mostly of road. Lol
