Look Basil Twins!

The mans gun, guaranteed to leave a bruise after a visit to the range.

Day one is in the books. I’m gonna try 72 grains and keep working up to pressure. I thought I would have hit it but not yet. Look at the notes this was also a shoot clean session. Fist shots were way faster then second two shots for each charge were very close. I think this is gonna be a good barrel. These are all 143 McGuires .020 off lands with Retumbo. I’m hoping to get a solid group with a 3100 avg. IMG_9514.jpegIMG_9537.jpegIMG_9536.jpeg

Ill post up some more pics tomorrow didn't have time yesterday but those were the 143 McGuires. Got up to 73 yesterday and produced another 1/2 inch group north of 3100 fps. I had loaded up the last of the McGuires I had at 70 and ran them out to 600 and the group wasn't that good. Ill try some more when I get them but if they arent grouping good at 600 I may try the 155 hammer.

Dude...please post COPIOUS amounts of Dead Large Mammal pics with featured build!!! Thats alot of work ...money... and time for paper...NICE!!

Ok time to pick this back up had a little hitch in that I mixed H4350 and Retumbo. Ooops. Anyways I was able to find a fresh jug of Retumbo and I’m back on the hunt. I went back out two weeks ago and it was cold at the range that morning like mid low 40’s. Results were surprising the 70 grain load that did well when it was warmer also did well in the cold. However the 73 grain load did not. So looks like it’s gonna be a 70 grain load but I’ll still try some more 73 grain charges just to confirm. image.jpgimage.jpg

unless there is a huge velo difference and I mean HUGE. That 70 is looking pretty good!

Did you jump from 70 to 73,
Nothing in between ?
Yes I tried everything in between in .5 grain increments. Weird thing that after the first round of trying 70 I had loaded up some more and they didn't print well at 600yards. Shortly after I realized I had mixed the powders the 70 gr load was getting bizarre 50fps swings and wasn't very consistent. That's when I poured out a bunch of the Retumbo and I noticed some of the kernels had a green tint and others did not. So had to dump the Retumbo.
