Hello folks, going to be doing some sea fishing from a canoe in the spring and looking for advice on a new reel.
I had a shakespeare casting reel for years which eventually died on me. Looking to replace but fancied something a bit more geared towards fishing from a boat. I don't need to cast and will use mostly for dropping feathers for mackerel and cod.
Do i really need a multiplier reel? I see a lot have lots of features on these which improve casting but i really dont need this. Just want something cheap but also relatively strong/holds a strong line.
I live in UK and ideally dont want to spend more than £40.00

If you can find an old Penn reel? They are quite capable, and often inexpensive on the used market.
