Mock Scrapes

I know most these kinds of articles target white-tail...Here in San Diego Co., we have the pacific hybrid muleys, but they act very much like white-tails...I was just looking at a rub that the bucks are using...Maybe, a scrape would work on these bucks.

Does marked very often but you need put scent very often like every week. Rubs are hard to find on public land.

Public land bucks are most certainly different than the very consistent private land bucks...One of the biggest bucks I ever killed was beating up a small tree on what is now X9-A.

I've said this a number of times...With the exception of the rut...D-16 bucks spent most their lives in about a 1 mile radius.

Steve,

Does rattling work at all on our local deer? I got a big bag of sheds in the garage that I've been thinking of trying out..
I have rattled in a couple does and one spork. I think it is more of a curiosity thing though. I have called just as many in calling coyote and calling turkeys.

Jason,

Like I've mentioned...These are white-tails in mule deer clothing...Rattling has brought in small guys, but since I'm on a rather small property in Julian with lots of does...I wait them bigger guys out...As long as I have does, I'll have bucks.
