Or more to the point, are the quail numbers decent in areas that are also frequented by chukar?

And, what's the nearest chukar hunting to San Diego?

All bird numbers are low this year.

Dude!!! You are so making me jealous. Way to go on the Chukar! I went looking for those little red-legged devils on the opener and all we found were rocks, boulders, stones and dirt! Ugh! And those were in areas that previous years were chocked full of them.

I haven't seen one in a couple weeks.. The numbers are super lower compared to last year. My tad went this morning and saw 5 chukar, 0 quail...There's close to no quail at all..
Is his sons name Will?

Damn well Ill still be going up there and see what I can get! But no his only son died in a car wreck years ago. He's in his 70's but hes up there hunting almost everyday! I grew up hunting up there so i try to go up whenever I can.

Oh I don't know him. I hunt from maricopa to Crocker 3-5 times a week and have never seen him... Lol

Zero chukar around Ridgecrest too. I went through the neighborhoods that are usually packed and didn't see a single bird.
