New gaiters

So I purchased some new gaiters at the Fred hall show this year.brand name.wilderness pack specialties.has anyone ever heard or used these?? I asked the gentlemen if they were snake proof and he said they were but they are really thin.not sure if he was just saying that to just make a sale or wat not?? Any feedback would b nice.thanks
