Dude would be cuffed and stuffed by the green patrol had he done that in jackafornia... I'm Thinking helicopters and media type shit...even if the dude was missing part of his throat the cat ripped out ..poor cat...

I hope I never have to make that decision but I would have done the same thing if I were in that situation. That cat showed no fear of humans, P.S. I knew someone that was ambushed, killed and eaten by a lion.

Im not logging into FB to see this but I'm guessing this the vid of the guy that glocks the mountain lion at a few yards?
Scary situation and I may of acted similar however I don't think the cat "pounced" like he said as it was in the same exact spot after he picked the camera back up. Also his "talking" to the cat to back off is a fricking joke. It's a wild animal it doesn't understand English and won't be intimidated by talking volumes. Yell at that thing, roar, make a scary noise, belt out your best low and loud deathcore impression or something.

or just shoot it in the face and not post the video on the internet. When I am 5yds from a lion or a bear last thing I am doing is making sudden movements or yelling. Pretty hard to keep your aim on the lion while screaming or yelling. That cat could pounce on you from a lot further than 5 yards.
Looked like a young dumb cat that gave the guy no choice.

Some stories should just be saved for the campfire.

I don't know why that guy would even post this. Unless you're totally clueless you know this is going to bring the wrath of the treehuggers down from on high. Not worth that IMHO. Too easy nowadays for them to track you, cancel you, or any number of other bad things they can think up.

I'd say yelling's effect on accuracy would be a non factor for a guy that decided to pull out his phone and start filming with a cat that had already closed inside of that distance. If his intention had been to hopefully scare it away he'd of been better served acting in that manner.

I can't speak on cats but I've had to scare away my share of town bears by making loud noises in surprise or urgent situations (want them gone before they make a mess). In my experience they respond best to just a loud roar noise. Less so to yelling. And typically could care less to go away bear type stuff. Adult bears out in the forest have all seem extremely scared of any sight sound or whiff of a person, they seem to know what's up. The young ones often act like this cat, curious and stupid. The times I've had curious young bears approach me it's always been while hunting and armed so I've never been very afraid.

I would never try to film with a phone if a cat was already this close and if I did would certainly not post it.
