Cristobal P. Gonzales passed away peacefully in his home on July 31, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born on August 20, 1933.

Cristobal was born at home on the outskirts of Brawley, CA. The third child of Juan and Clotilde Gonzales. He attended school at Miguel Hidalgo and Brawley Union High School, graduating in 1952, where he played football and was part of the 1951 CIF Championship team.

After high school, he worked for Calyards and then Holly Sugar. In 1956, he was drafted into the Army where he served for two years at Fort MacArthur, CA. Upon his discharge from the Army, he continued his service for five years in the National Guard.

In 1960, he met Beatrice Cortez and they married on June 3, 1962 and they had five children. He continued his education at Imperial Valley College then he went to San Diego State University, graduating with a Bachelors in Social Science and Associates in Biology. He started working for Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game Wister Unit in 1959 starting as a seasonal worker and rising up to area manager. He retired in 1996 after 37 years.

After retirement, he spent his time supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sports and rarely missed the BUHS football games and wrestling matches.

He was proceded in death by his parents, Juan and Clotilde Gonzales; sister, Nieves Fernandez; and brothers, Jose and Margarito Gonzales.

Cristobal is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Gonzales; sons, Cristobal (Monica) Gonzales Jr. and Robert (Diana) Gonzales; daughters, Veronica (Armando) Limon, Anna Marie (Anthony) Likos, and Marie Ann (Kerry) Henderson; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Juan (Irene) Gonzales Jr. and Gregorio (Julia) Gonzales; sisters, Tomasa (Salvador, deceased) Medina, Josie Guillen (Ernie Garcia), Angie (Fred) Guzman, and Gloria (Jerry) Santillan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 6-9 p.m. with a Rosary reading beginning at 7 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley, CA. Services will be on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 9 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley, CA followed by the Burial at Riverview Cemetery.
