Has anyone done an old packers pack mount for a deer?
If so how did you like it?

Frame.
Willow branches.
Burlap material sewn into a bag and mounted to the frame.
My buddy I hunt with does taxidermy work. He mounted the deer on it for me.
Found an old wool blanket.
Old looking rope from local hardware store.

Very cool love those. I’ve been on a couple google journeys looking for those there are people that sell the the packs to make those

I did a grizzly bear on one. I didn't make the frame... ordered it. The mount looks better in person. Lungpoppers is one of the coolest I've seen with a deer. The challenge for me is to find a look between dead and messed up and alive and manicured. Ed FIMG_3041.jpg20240521_191502.jpg

How much hide is needed? I'm sure if you could get the whole hide would be better but what would a minimum required to make it look decent?

If you had enough for a shoulder mount that would be enough. Ed F

That's good to know.
I skinned the buck all the way back to the hind legs and I was concerned it would have enough hide. But I did see some mounts that had the tail and made wish I would have just kept everything.
