Rumor has it that AJSnack shot a whopper of a Turkey today.

He is a pretty good bird. 9 inch beard, 7/8 inch spurs, 16 pounds. Had all intentions of taking him with my bow but he almost put the slip on me so had to dispatch him with my Benelli M1 Super 90. First Turkey and first kill with my Benelli!

It was a local private land bird.

Thanks guys I had a great time hunting today! Saw over a dozen birds, had a small tom and some jakes within 15 feet of me gobbling, and saw 24 deer in the process.

He turned out to be the only male I saw all day that was alone. I had a group of younger birds come in earlier but I passed on them. He was more interested in the actual hen that was in the area, than he was with my decoy he hung up about 35 yards out. Started to follow the hen out of the field and up the hill. So I turned to the right window of the blind and settled the bead on his head at about 27 yards. Awesome hunt!

Did you cut off all if the fat between the quills? I usually use a small pair of scissors to trim this off.

I got a lot of it using a small wire brush. Didn't think about a small pair of scissors, that would have done a better job
