San Felipe 2018

Well the Miles clan made our annual Memorial weekend trip down to San Felipe. The go to bait for the weekend was the grunion that the boys and I harvested and salted a few months back. The surf fishing was wide open most of the time we couldn’t get the rod into the holder before fish were on.

We went down almost to Gonzaga one afternoon and did pretty well little drew landed a toad Trigger fish it was the fight of his life and it tasted great.

We had a total of 9 kids down between my two sisters and me, 8 boys and my June Bug. I have no clue how many fish we landed but imagine your best bluegill bite and that was our entire weekend with a wide variety of fish.

The Jellyfish came in the last day once the boys learned you can throw them at each other which makes them sting it was on. 8 boys running around with jellyfish welts was pretty funny. Good times as always south of the border.

My best guess is Chili Sea Catfish whatever they were we caught tons of them and it was my first time catching them down there. We must have hit there migration right or something.

I never knew there was such a thing as a salt water catfish. Neat.

No we only cooked the Trigger fish up. We threw everything else back.

This house was km31.5 we always stay in the south Campos it’s great down there. We have stayed at this house the last two years.

Yes it’s a great area. Best time to fish down there is October.
