San Jac COOT HUNTER

When I walk out to my duck blind (about a quarter mile walk) my lab runs around through brush and tules hunting up duck, geese, pheasant cripples and what ever. Once he brought back a coot. I nicely admonished him and made him put it back where he found it. Hasn’t retrieved another coot since.
that is awesome

I've never shot one..... But.....

"Coots are not rated high on the edible list....at all.... They are very edible! You must skin them and leave no fat ( the fat tends to carry the nasty flavor). Cook it as though you're cooking venison and you'll be pleasantly surprized at how much it does taste like venison of all things"
