Got a call from my friend Cal saying he had a couple of tickets for the reopened San Vicente Reservoir (new dam & been closed for about 8 years).....I know the opener was epic per everything I read about this lake that I started fishing in the early 70's.....Well, today wasn't epic, but we did get some darn nice fish.....
The lake is beautiful & clear, but it's also full of quagga mussels. Which when you hook the bigger fish, it's pretty easy for them to find the mussel laden brush.....Like razor blades.....
Best lures were Robo worms, Senko's, and I got a couple of nice fish on creature type baits.....Cal also brought some shiners.....I think everyone of them got a bass or crappie......
