With dove opener behind us who's hitting the woods to fill their archery tag?? I hit the Balboa range this week to dial in my bow.. a little rusty but tight enough groups to kill something. Not too optimistic this year but hey u can't shoot anything from your couch right. Chasing this rack below, who I saw a few months ago still alive and walking but he left his last set of antlers (3x3) on the ground that I mounted awhile back. Also got a doe spot in mind we'll see.

Ill be out. Not expecting much either. Havent got much scouting in but hitting an area Ive got pictures from in the past. Good luck to all!

going to give Camp Pendleton a shot, drove all over base today, didn't realize how huge that place is.

I wish I was but with this whole torn maniscus and acl I've got going on its totally unfeasable. It's okay though as my knee is under care of the best there is. I'm ready doc slice away because this no deer thing sucks.

Hey guys... so D16 AO tag starts Saturday? I'm all D12 but might have a chance at private land buck. fill me in guys what do I need... just "entry permit for hunting" signed by land owner?

I'll be out next weekend. Family in town means I will be taking the boat out for some tuna. Always slow out there this time of the year. Use the bow season to scout mainly.

steve... them bucks would be shooters in my eyes since I have not taken anything with my bow, yet. the temps, well living in the IV for 40 yrs I've learned to cope with it somewhat. Good luck guys :)

I'll be out in D-16 this year with my bow. This is my first time ever hunting in CA. Have done some scouting and ready to go. Hoping for the best! Can't wait. I LOVE september!! I'll be out solo though as I haven't met any hunting friends down here yet, but I generally do better out by myself anyways so I'm stoked. I drive a silver Jeep Liberty with search and rescue stickers on it. If you see me out be sure and say hi!

Tim,

I like hunting big game by myself as well.....If you fork one and need any help (tracking wounded animal at night, skinning, etc.) let us know. I know lots of guys that would love to help.

ps.....Jacob & I help find this buck after the guy had given up..... ;)

I'm always up for a search and recovery mission. Like Sprig said, just post here and you will get some folks who are itching for a reason to get out in the field (and meet another hunter). I'm only deer Hunting during the rifle season (actually G-13 rather than D16) so an opportunity to help search for a downed buck in advance of the rifle season is always a welcome opportunity. Just don't forget to share the customary 1lb of venison bacon. Only kidding. (note: I owe my father-in-law some venison bacon this season so I'll lend a strong hand at any chance to collect some venison).

Hit them right the don't run far !

Good luck guys be safe

Awesome!! Thanks for the offer gentleman! Hopefully I won't need it, but if I do, nice to know you guys are willing to help out!! Thanks again!

Went last night for a couple of hours just to see what activity I had.....Does & fawns was about it (comfort zone).....Trail cam is showing bucks in the morning & late at night at the stand.
