I have the pin at 20 yards set. Now I need to work on 40 and 60.
I tried two different spines 250 and 400. Didn’t see much difference between them. Can anyone tell me which one show I use for deer hunting?

Pretty big difference from a 250 spine to a 400 I'm going to guess the blue and white fletch is the 250. Put a broad head on them see which flys best

you were right on the money.
What difference do they make?
Which one would you use for hunting?
What do you shoot with broadheads? I do not want to destroy the bag.

the spine required has to do with the draw weight length of draw of the bow and the length of the arrow, for it to shoot properly.
there are charts at every manufacturers of arrows that that dictate the correct spine for the draw weight & arrow length...

then based on the weight of the hardware in the arrow and the broadhead , the bow is fin tuend to shoot straight.
very complex procedure and this is the simple explanation..

Thank you Lee.
When the bow was set up I was told to use a least arrow with a 400 spine. I guess I will have to go back to bow and arrow and buy the broad-heads and let them set the bow for those arrows.

If I were you I would put up hay bail behind your target. Your arrows will go through your neighbors fence when you miss. I know this from experience.

Depends on the poundage of the bow. I have a 70# bow and my arrows go right through hay bales. Which also caused me to have the fletchings all replaced, as they all got torn off or close to it.

Fabian, you'll have to get a broadhead specific target, or you can use mine. Do not shoot blades into that morel target, only for field points. Take your arrows with you when you get the broadheads, they can match them to your field points. Grim reaper mechs, fly like field points.
Good shooting btw!

Grim reapers comes with a fake broadhead. Used for practice..
Use it so you don't dull or damage the broadheads..
I practice with field tips and the fake broadhead..

If you look at my post my bow and me, I have bails of straw, rapped with a cheap tarp. This helps slowing the down arrows. At the bow range they install thick rubber mat. To stop the arrows behind the bails.

Thanks to all for your advice.
I never thought that they could go through the wood fence and my neighbor was on his backyard yesterday!!!

Archery ranches use high density hay bails to stop arrow but they are $90 a bail.

To all- Tracker supply sells giant rubber floor mats for horses that easily stop the fastest of arrows. Just find a way to hang it behind your target. They have many options in types and sizes.

What poundage and draw length you shooting? Looking at the way your arrows are impacting your target I'd say stick to the 400

But they won't go through a fence or very far after going through a bale.

Since I am new to archery, bow n arrow set it to 55 Lb and my draw length is 30”. The bow can be adjusted up to 70Lb but I believe they set it at 55 so I can draw it comfortably and work on my form.

Which arrow mfg did you buy.
How long are you arrows.
55lb is perfect to start out.
Your a big guy later on you crank it up to 60-70 lbs

At that point the spine of the arrow will change., So you will have to buy new arrows.. plus as time goes
You will test different styles and brands. Til you get the right combination..

I believe the data I read arrows should be approximately 2 inches longer than your draw length..
Some guys like nats ass.. I like them a little on the plus side..
That way I don't cut my hand..lol.
Then practice on the form.. then
Start getting accuracy..
4 pin standard target shooting is
20 yards, 30 yards, 40 yards, 50 yards & on on

Put up a 4 pieces thick stack of that interlocking garage mats over the hay bale. It helps to dissipate some of the energy so the arrows don't just blast thru the hay bale when you're close like that.
