now... i dont mean to brag...more like brag....
As ive said in a previous post my 16 year old turned around his grades in school in 1 semester last year and made up his classes in summer school with 4 A's He is a great kid and ive never really worried about his future because he learns and works hard at everything.
anyway due to his grades he got his first hunt-able bow. a bear attitude set at 29.5" at 60lbs. with the help of a few guys on here i ordered some easton aluminum 340 arrows, cut them to length and topped them with 100g field points we already had from our long bows. Since i had not heard from the local archery club i went out and got 4 hay bales for him and set up a 10-35 yard field on the back yard. ( yes with a good solid block wall back stop.)
he got home from a visit at moms and i surprised him with his new practice range. After his chores, GSP poop eeew, He settled in at 10 yards. watched his form checked his level and let them fly. he is already pretty good with our older long bows but we started from the beginning. 6 arrows all within 3" of each other just to the right of center of my 8" spray painted circle. retrieved the arrows and the next 6 the exact same. we adjusted his sight and the next 6 all dead center. Ok ... so i know 10 yards is pretty easy. so we move back to 15 same out come some arrows touching each other all just off to the right. we pulled back to 20yards moved the sight just a tad more to the right... OOOPS thump in to the 2x4 planter. What happened? dad adjusted the sight the wrong way. so after fixing my mistake he settled in a 20 yards. first 3 a little shaky and all i little wild. I suggested it might be time to stop. he says yea after the next 3. the last 3 shots form 20 yards...? dead center all touching. he says to me, i remembered my "sniper" breathing. i think he had a pretty good afternoon on his new home made practice range.
Thanks Son for making great memories
